Youth Group!

Welcome to the Whitby Courthouse Theatre – Youth Group. Our stage is set for another great season. Our goal is to create a fully integrated theatre experience for our youth between the ages of 9 and 17.

We provide an opportunity to cultivate and develop creative skills in a safe, friendly environment. Our program offers a wide range of theatre experiences.

Workshops are conducted with the group participants from September through December and focus on a wide range of disciplines covering both acting and technical themes. As the spring approaches, focus turns to preparations for our annual Youth Group Performance (in June), which provides cast and crew opportunities for all the group members to participate in.

PRE-REGISTRATION:

Everyone MUST pre-register to audition for the Youth Group by September 10, 2010.

Applications can be submitted via email to: youthgroup@whitby theatre.org or dropped off at the Whitby Public Library Central branch at 405 Dundas Street West in a sealed envelope labelled "Attention Lorrie Grant". All applicants will receive email notification that we have received their applications. If you do not get a response within FIVE DAYS of the drop off please contact us at the above email address.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

Auditions will take place in September. Your time slot and location will be emailed to you. Each participant is required to have prepared:

One song (age appropriate and show your vocal range). Each participant is required to bring their instrumental CD or they may perform a cappella.
A memorized ONE minute monologue that would show-case your acting ability.

Each participant is required to bring their own sheet music for the pianist to accompany you (pianist will be provided) or background vocals on a cd. Each participant is required to have a ONE minute monologue prepared that would show-case your acting ability.

AGE REQUIREMENTS:

We are accepting youth between the ages of 9-17. (those born in the years from 1993-2001)

The objectives of the Youth Group are as follows:

To create a fully integrated theatrical experience for youth within Durham Region
To provide a training ground for children and youth to develop their creative skills in a safe and fun environment.
